From the 1980s to the early 2000s, Raj Comics went from selling 3 lakh copies a year to adorning railway bookstalls in Central India. Despite being absent from the multimedia convergence moment enjoyed by comic book characters worldwide in the first two decades of the 21st Century. Nagraj, their most successful superhero character boasts a dedicated fanbase that continues to engage with the rapidly vanishing superhero Nagraj. This paper focuses on ‘Khajana’, the Nagraj mini-series, to study the technique of serialisation and its contribution to the creation and endurance of such a fanbase online. The paper examines ‘Khajana’ by locating it at the intersection of the commercial superhero genre in India and the interactive felicity of millennial Nagraj fans. Such an intersection conceives serialisation and interactive felicity as the conditions of possibility for a fandom around an absent commercial entity. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor &amp; Francis Group.

Seriality and millennial fandom in the Indian superhero comic Nagraj

We analyse the structure of finite dimensional subspaces of the set of points of strong subdifferentiability in a dual space. In a dual L1(μ) space, such a subspace is in the discrete part of the Yoshida-Hewitt type decomposition. In this set up, any Banach space consisting of points of strong subdifferentiability is necessarily finite dimensional. Our results also lead to streamlined and new proofs of results from the study of strong proximinality for subspaces of finite co-dimension in a Banach space. © 2021 Heldermann Verlag.

Structure of sets of strong subdifferentiability in dual L1-spaces

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the fragmentation of the healthcare delivery systems and highlighted the role of resilient primary healthcare systems for a robust public health response during health emergencies. Primary care while being the first point of contact between the citizens and the health systems has received scant attention or targeted investments over the past several decades. Through this narrative review, we aim to outline the potential role of telehealth in augmenting health systems capacity. While teleconsultations have increased exponentially during the pandemic, evidence suggests that utilisation of primary care for non-emergency and non-COVID-19 conditions such as chronic medical conditions has significantly decreased, suggesting that most telemedicine utilisation has been to address an immediate crisis. In countries with pre-existing national digital health framework and enabling regulatory environments, telehealth interventions while strengthening the public health response to COVID-19 also supported the continuum of care at the primary care level. Even after COVID-19 is controlled, telemedicine has the potential to address persistent obstacles to primary care in the South East Asia region, including scarcity of trained healthcare workers, access challenges and costs associated with in-person care. Telemedicine holds promise in strengthening primary care and has the potential to catalyse achieving universal health coverage. © Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2021. No commercial re-use. Telemedicine supported strengthening of primary care in WHO South East Asia region: Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic experiences

This paper examines the impact of the global financial crisis on firm exit and corporate deleveraging in Slovenia during 2008‒2014 using firm-level data. Firms are classified according to whether they increased their leverage, decreased their leverage or ceased operation during the specified time interval, and the likelihood of being in these three states are estimated. Deleveraging likelihood is analyzed separately for total debt, business-to-business debt, bank debt, and non-bank financial debt. The empirical exercise shows that the influence of covariates on firm exit was different from that on deleveraging, and the impact on deleveraging differed between different types of debt. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Firm Indebtedness, Deleveraging, and Exit: The Experience of Slovenia during the Financial Crisis, 2008–2014*

We revisit, within Harsanyi’s impartial observer setting, the question of foundations underlying procedural fairness concerns in welfare judgments. In our setup—that of allocating an indivisible good using a lottery—such concerns, presumably, matter. We draw from the social preferences literature and relax a typical assumption made while addressing this question, namely that individuals in society do not care about procedural fairness and such concerns arise exclusively at a societal level, which are captured by nonlinear social welfare functions (SWFs). In our model, individual attitudes toward procedural fairness are identified and factored into welfare judgments. Specifically, we provide an axiomatic basis within Harsanyi’s (J Polit Econ 63:309–321, 1955) framework to represent procedural fairness sensitive individual preferences by the representation in Karni and Safra (Econometrica 70:263–284, 2002). We then show, in terms of underlying axioms, how such individual assessments incorporating both risk and procedural fairness attitudes can be aggregated by means of utilitarian and generalized utilitarian SWFs. © 2020, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Individual sense of justice and Harsanyi’s impartial observer

We show that general parity-violating 3d conformal field theories show a double copy structure for momentum space 3-point functions of conserved currents, stress tensor and marginal scalar operators. Splitting up the CFT correlator into two parts — called homogeneous and non-homogeneous — we show that double copy relations exist for each part separately. We arrive at similar conclusions regarding double copy structures using tree-level correlators of massless fields in dS4. We also discuss the flat space limit of these correlators. We further extend the double copy analysis to correlators involving higher-spin conserved currents, which suggests that the spin-s current correlator can be thought of as s copies of the spin one current correlator. © 2021, The Author(s).

Logging Analysis and Prediction in Open Source Java Project

Gene flow, the exchange of genetic material between populations is an important biological process, which shapes and maintains biodiversity. The successful movement of individuals between populations depends on multiple factors determined by species biology and the environment. One of the most important factors regulating gene flow is the ability to move and flight allows individuals to easily move across geographical barriers. Volant vertebrates are found on some of the remotest islands and contribute significantly to the biodiversity and ecosystem. The availability of next-generation sequencing data for non-model animals has substantially improved our understanding of gene flow and its consequences, allowing us to look at fine-scale patterns. However, most of our understanding regarding gene flow comes from the temperate regions and the Neotropics. The lack of studies from species-rich Asia is striking. In this review, we outline the importance of gene flow and the factors affecting gene flow, especially for volant vertebrates. We especially discuss research studies from tropical biomes of South and Southeast Asia, highlight the lacuna in literature and provide an outline for future studies in this species-rich region.

Gene Flow in Volant Vertebrates: Species Biology, Ecology and Climate Change

What is the content of beliefs expressed by sentences with fictional names? Millianism has notoriously struggled to give a satisfactory answer to this question. Some Millians have argued that fictional names are empty names. But such a view entails that the belief that Superman has impressive superpowers and the belief that Aquaman has impressive superpowers have the same content, contrary to our intuitions. Others have argued that fictional names refer to fictional entities. But this view has a long-standing problem, Frege's Puzzle, and many philosophers are skeptical that Millians have successfully addressed it, despite commendable efforts. In this paper, I put forward a different Millian Theory of fictional proper names that by-passes these and other objections related to belief content. The novelty of my proposal partially rests on a distinction I draw between semantic content and belief content-as opposed to a distinction between belief content and belief state or a way of grasping the content, as it is commonly found in Millian accounts-in a framework where belief contents are not part of the meaning of names. © The Author.
